My approach to the internet is to add value; and if I make a buck here and there then great, I deserve it if I have provided people what they are looking for.
Just today I heard back from a friend of mine who implemented my strategies from my “One Secret Can Save You 8 – 16% Buying Dell Online” ebook and saved over $1000!!! on a laptop that showed a price of over $4000 (with extra monitor) on Dell’s online store. He saved about 25% on his purchase. Think he minds paying $17 for that?
But what really makes me sick is all of the people simply selling hope to people who want to make money online. (I know, selling hope works – witness Barack Hussein Obama’s unlikely meteoric rise.) I really get frustrated when people I otherwise have respect for start sending me emails pushing some guru’s “big launch” product.
Whenever someone has a big launch, I puke and turn away. Ok, I turn away and then puke. Big launches usually mean you are gonna pay big money for a big name person’s product. Sure, sometimes it might appear to be worth it for a few people in the end. But I will easily bet most people never get anything close to their money out of it.
This is currently happening with Rich Schefren’s latest “big launch”, his GPS or Guided Profit System. Rich Schefren made big headlines a year or so ago with some free eBooks he released. I read those books and they were well compiled (likely by someone else) and then he followed with a HUGE launch that promptly flopped.
Rich followed that big launch flop with an apologetic email and another launch attempt, slightly re-written.
The only thing I know for sure about Rich Schefren’s Guided Profit System is that it is expensive to the purchaser and it pays a big commission to anyone who leads a prospect to Rich’s door for a sale.
Rich is an Ok guy, I actually spent an evening with he and about 10 others in Chicago two years ago. The first thing to know about Rich is that he did a lot of “black hat” work years ago before Google killed those kind of activities.
Does that make him a criminal? No. But it’s not the kind of guy I look to for moral guidance and business advice when I want to do something above board and reputable.
So ok, what kind of guy do I look to? Well Bill Myers Online just recently released a new product, limited to only 250 sales. He sold out in days with no advertising.
[Addendum] I just opened Bill’s tip of the week and one of the articles lists the characteristics of a good product to sell at a trade show. Here is one of the items on the list:
- The product is legal, moral, and makes potential customers happy
[See what I mean?]
No advertising, no hype, no BIG LAUNCH. He even delayed it because he was going on a trip. He was in no rush.
The thing is, Bill Myers is so highly regarded by members of his site that they will buy any product he releases almost sight unseen. In this case, Bill simply released some videos showing how the product is used. I bought a copy.
When you see someone promoting someone else’s “big launch”, I suggest you lock up your wallet and your credit cards and let someone else “get in on a limited offer”. One of the absolute best make money online training programs was given away for free earlier this year by one of the top affiliate marketers in the world. Will he ultimately make some money through it? Sure, only after he makes hundreds of other people HUGE personal fans of his.
Because he gave them something of real value, not just hype.
In my opinion, about 95% of the make money online internet gig is just hype. And in my further opinion, Rich Schefren is good at hype, good at helping his other mega affiliate buddies make some big money along with himself, but I’m not convinced he does all that much for his average customer who wants to make honest money on the internet providing real value to others.
Just my opinion.
That link for Bill Myers website is Bill Myers Online; and yes, if you join Bill will give me a very modest sum; but you will get many times what you pay for his membership and I feel good about that.
